Operational Support Applied Learning Opportunities
Throughout the year, there may be events or projects that require short term assistance in the areas, communications or research. Individuals may choose to become involved in these opportunities as they arise.Communications
Volunteers interested in gaining experience in the communication operations of a non-profit organization may assist the administrative team with various projects on an as-needed basis.Volunteers assisting with communication support will have the opportunity to:
- Gain knowledge about working with community networks and various departments within the university
- Gain experience working with internal and external vendors
- Increase understanding of the administrative and operational workings of the university
- Gain experience in communication with the media, stakeholders, members, and the community
- Be involved in preparations for annual events such as Wheel Challenge and seasonal gatherings.
Research
Volunteers interested in learning about the research process and gaining hands on experience, particularly research relating to populations with disabilities, may assist the research team with projects on an as-needed basis.Volunteers assisting with research support will have the opportunity to:
- Gain an understanding of the preparation process required for research, including proposals, ethics approval, and participant recruitment.
- Assist the research assistant with data collection and data management
- Be involved in the preparation of presentations and posters for conferences
