Who this program is for

Individuals with a physical disability who are capable of working out in the community however require an individualized adapted exercise program and training to ensure they can safely exercise in a community facility.

 About the program

  • The Community Development Program offers persons with disabilities a smoother transition into a non-adapted community facility.
  • You will meet with a coordinator for a consultation and a tour of the facility, and to complete necessary paperwork.
  • You'll undergo a physical fitness appraisal that will be administered by the coordinator to assess your  fitness levels and needs.
  • We will devise an exercise program for you, and you will be able to use our facilities for a pre-determined period of time under the guidance of staff.
    • The timeframe could range from one month to six months depending on the assessment results.
    • You will be given a 1 to 1.5 hour time slot in which to come to The Steadward Centre, determined at the time of the physical fitness assessment.
